Re: Cleaning Circuit Boards
Thank you for the response. If I do clean the PCB, I think I will use distilled water. I'll have to open it again and see if it is really worth it. I don't think the circuit is at risk of damage.

Cleaning Circuit Boards
I got a Minibrute at a garage sale and it's a lot of fun. I opened the enclosure while I was cleaning it and noticed that there is some sort of residue built up on the circuit board. A lot of people store their electronics in barns where I live, to my lament. I wanted to check that it is safe to go ...

Re: Soldering Irons
I've been using a Weller WES50 for about fifteen years. Any proper temperature controlled station should fit the bill (and are generally a dream to use in comparison to the plug directly into the wall units that I have used). QFT. Donxe2x80x99t even bother with those shitty pen-only type irons. Hak...

Re: Soldering Irons
Some of the cheap stations seem to have decent reputations, which is one reason I've been having trouble deciding. I read someone somewhere say that Hakko clones are just as good as the real thing if they have good tips on them. I have only ever used Radioshack soldering irons, and I think a good st...

Re: post your fantasy setup
A couple of multitrack reel to reel machines, a (working) Portastudio 424, and a mixer with 4+ sends and a lot of EQ control, preferably parametric mids. I had a porta two which was a predecessor to the portastudio. I have several real to reel decks two although mostly for dubbing tape to digital. ...

Soldering Irons
What kind of soldering iron does everybody use? I need to get a new iron and I'm thinking of getting my first somewhat nice one, such as a Hakko.

Re: How loud do you like it?
Listening to live harsh noise, crazy loud. The Rita was one of the loudest sets I've ever heard. I wore ear plugs and still felt completely enveloped in volume. I do wear ear plugs during most noise sets now. I didn't when I was younger, but eventually had too many experiences where I really hurt my...
