Re: Build Shit - DIY - What's On Your Bench?
I'm working on a VCA.
Some operational hiccups aside,
the circuit shows promise.
Next build out will include matched transistors instead of the random grab from above.

Re: Build Shit - DIY - What's On Your Bench?
I participated in a secret santa gift exchange last year in which I interconnected a couple of circuits to produce a result worthy of chasing again. Here's the initial build: SOURcloth1.jpg SourGuts.jpg Intentional design saw the inclusion of a blend control between the output of the first circuit (...

Re: Thread for random DIY-related questions
Relays should experience minimal wear and tear - unless you're switching something with DC on it - but yeah, it's basically just a switch. The real benefit is being able to throw multiples with a single command, or automate stuff (though relays switch slowly compared to CMOS) - CMOS can switch at au...

Re: Thread for random DIY-related questions
If you're goal is an A/B comparison fixture, I would say a relay would be a better switch source.

Re: Thread for random DIY-related questions
In that diagram the signal enters and exits the 4053, which is a CMOS circuit (not a physical connected switch) so that is not true bypass. In my mind, anything that requires the power supply to be connected in order to complete a bypass signal path is not "true bypass". That said, I use 4...

Re: advice to a equalizer
Holy time slip, Bat man!
Any EQ will work, the most annoyance you'll run into with home stereo stuff is needing wires with RCA ends, the form factor, and requiring an AC power line (I'm assuming a mix of pedals otherwise) - but yeah, grab what's available and run it.
