Re: Cool Gear Alert
Less of an alert, because someone scooped this, but more of a hey look at that: 1980s pricing!

Re: Cool Gear Alert
I paid this for a half stack in 1987. It is still my favorite clean tone.

I've wanted an Orville for ages, but I'm afraid I don't have the $600 technical know-how or steady hands to fix one of them.

Re: Cool Gear Alert
I purchased my H3000 in an inoperable state, and repair was simply a matter of cleaning and exercising internal connectors. To this day, I have to periodically "reset" internal ICs, because Eventide was fond of using sockets instead of solder. That is a known issue and you can find people talking about it on various forums.¾ dead wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2024 11:16 pm Paging Mr. Rochambeau...

I'm not familiar with the Orville.
It COULD be a similar scenario here. But, it COULD also be something more serious. $600 is a really big commit for a gamble, but if you take the plunge I am happy to consult from afar. I cannot commit to actually working on anything for anyone (unless I built it to begin with), but I am wholeheartedly willing to root for success from the sidelines and offer whatever insight I can.
Me personally, I sort of draw the line at $200 shipped for gambles, and I'm still sitting on a couple (Akai S900 and Akai MB76) patiently awaiting the bandwidth to properly dig into them.
Best of luck no matter what route you take!
(edit) I just realized my "to work on" pile is vastly deeper than what I just implied, selective memory at work, hahaha..
INCLUDING A FUCKING TR-606. Methinks I shall go running through the fields while screaming now.
