[The Mysterious Creep]

Any fans of Skullflower and Matt Bower's similar other projects? People always talk about shoegaze sounding like vacuum cleaner noises made with guitars, but I'd say modern Skullflower's blackened drone stuff (Tribulation, Strange Keys, Desire For A Holy War, etc.) has that vacuum tone on lock. I've been chasing that sound with a looper and various distortion pedals and can't get anything that dense. I wrote a post on Reddit's noise music sub about it, which was ultimately very little help, and Matt doesn't talk a lot of tech in what few interviews with him exist.

OK, maybe not entirely off the mark but it's just missing the characteristics that make Neo-Skullflower so texturally fantastic. Here are my attempts at it: https://www.bandlab.com/collections/110 ... 18789a1e8a (some post-production distortion and EQ was added in Bandlab to smooth out the shittiness of recording from a phone). For comparison, Strange Keys to Untune God's Firmaments and Tribulation (both of which can be found online) were the big influences.

Want to try to make a small fan-based self-playing guitar, similar to the old Boyd Rice thing.

He's had a few roto guitars as far as I'm aware. They definitely produce more aesthetic appeal than they do interesting sound

I'm definitely gonna have to build myself a spring-stick noise guitar at some point for my noisecore project. Using the tabletop setup isn't nearly as fun as having a thing you can jump around with.
