Stole the idea from Jack Vance.
Check out The Dying Earth by Jack Vance and Songs of the dying earth edited by george rr Martin.

Also for similar absurd D&D(with some lovecraft) type fantasy
Throne of Bones by Brian mcnaughton and don't try to force sex on a ghoul.

Ah nice, will check that out. A while ago I started reading Gene Wolfe, pretty great fantasy epic actually kind of set in the extremely far future, some incredible concepts/imagery https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Book_of_the_New_Sun

Anyone know any actually active DS forums/groups I can this in? the main DS board seems very quiet and the reddit is just continuous of new albums with no listeners

You might just try to find some mystic, ethereal locales to leave bizcard CDr's in! At the edge of some rotting, ancient forest of hollowed-out oaks, maybe.
