Re: NoiseGuide Thread Salvage Project...
Seems like beating a dead horse to me.
I mean, you can chart the trajectory of almost every forum from the early days of figuring everything out to the curmudgeonly "just look at this thread" librarian mindset.
If we start with a clean slate, we don't have that crutch of "just look at this" or "FFS this question has been asked a thousand times already". We begin with engagement of the subjects.
Digging out relics will rob us of further experience. I mean, are we going to get in the moment on an instant ten or twenty page thread? No. Ain't nobody got time for that. It's just resting on past glories.
Take for example your recent surge of threads in gear. Some of those posts must have several thousand word counts. I scan, but I don't immerse myself because it's just too much to take in without neglecting other channels in my mind.
I think exhuming noiseguide would be worse. I mean, this is an edifice that had long since passed the grouchy cynical phase. A lot of early users have moved on, or are dead. I feel like it would be a disservice to whatever amounts to the current climate of noise enthusiasm.
Minimal return on effort unless the goal is self serving wankery. Maybe I'm just jaded because I've lost massive investments of time and effort across numerous forum collapses, and I've come to appreciate that as a forced moment motivator.
Just my $4.50, adjusted for inflation.

Re: NoiseGuide Thread Salvage Project...
I have a partial download of the forum fro a couple moths ago.. so I may beable to extract some parts of it but I kinda agree with Croch in that half the fun is recreating some of it.. minus the years of pointless arguing over what is art or what is noise etc.. lol

It's not like we need all the "philosophical" & what is "real" noise post
rather just turn on gear
& press record

Re: NoiseGuide Thread Salvage Project...
No particular order here:
Any RJMyato posting.
Stimbox/California 10LP box set omission plus early Blue Board drama(s)
(That was a good one.)
Shark Knifing
And I am taking a contrarian view Curtis merely for the archival of lulz.

If a rogues gallery of mind-numbing mayhem is in order, I'd love to see someone mine a troniks dump for the NON MUSICIAN TRYING TO START thread.
