Why...remasters sound like shit.
Remasters are usually sad and lame attempts to modernize the sound and usually fail.

Without resorting to discogs, from what I remember the Pulse Demon reissue added a mediocre bonus track and really turned down the volume overall, which I can kind of respect since clearly Masami wanted to preserve any nuances by avoiding clipping, but come on man, itxe2x80x99s fucking Pulse Demon. Plus I think one long track got split-up into two parts, though I could be misremembering that/confusing it with the Noisembryo vinyl reissue.

EDIT: Ixe2x80x99m thinking of the Relapse reissue and no, there wasnxe2x80x99t any parting-out of any tracks (but still an added bonus track). I canxe2x80x99t speak for the Bludhoney reissue.

The real insult, IMO, was the Venereology reissue, which again not only missed the whole point of the album by turning everything down to below clipping-level, but they actually completely got rid of a track, and not just any track, but arguably the best track on the whole album: I Lead You Towards Glorious Times. And what did we get in return? Three more unrelated, forgettable xe2x80x9cbonusxe2x80x9d tracks.

Do yourself a favor and just buy the uncompressed digital files of the original off of bandcamp, while itxe2x80x99s still up there, or keep waiting for an original pressing to pop up at a reasonable price like Ixe2x80x99ve been doing for the past few years.

I have my CD copy of Venerology I got when it came out and leaving off I lead you records glorious times is absolute bullshit as that is one of my faborite tracks.


Oh slayer reign in blood remaster is total shit just like the mix and mastering of all thier 20th century material...its supposed to be kinda dense and evil sounding. I don't care how it sounds on a phone or earbuds. Tough shit if it doesn't sound like new crap because its not new. Its 40 year old 1980s metal for fucks sake.

The whole gimmick of this album is it's mastered so loud and hard clipping that they had to go to great lengths to persuade the pressing plant to disregard the Red Book CD standards. There's zero point putting it on vinyl at all except to extract money from vaporwave fans who will never listen to it

Eh... pretty much, yeah. I mean I wouldnxe2x80x99t mind a verbatim vinyl reissue if there was a demand for one; I can only guess on why someone would want one on the format so who am I to judge.
Personally, I havenxe2x80x99t collected vinyl in years and do not plan on doing it again any time soon. I just wish Relapse would reissue it 100% unchanged on CD: original pressings, if you can even find them, are too expensive. I have just the disc from the 2004 reissue without any inserts and itxe2x80x99s an eyesore.

Totally insulting bullshit. Relapse probably just wanted an excuse to print Merzbow shirts again to sell to people who think Vomir is funny. Indeed, the original mastering was part of what made that album so important anyway...and they like it enough to reissue but not enough to make a 2cd/2lp version with the added bonus tracks instead of fucking changing the original album? Imagine if Earache was like, oh we're gonna reissue the first Napalm Death album, but only side B. Don't tell anyone.
