Camp is self parody / deprecating from outsider groups. It's linked to kitsch because you may camply like kitsch things.
Kitsch is a bit like noise: meaningless art with attitude, but kitsch is evil because it can all be viewed that way (Beethoven playing in that film about saint bernards). Even high kitsch isn’t really noise IMHO; partly cos they have different reference points (modernism vs sentimental stuff) and partly imho because kitsch has a veneer of meaning / sense.
