Re: Luke's misplaced thoughts
if the lack of intrinsic meaning to life is why every meaning making activity fails, then why doesn't a lack of ethical / intrinsic value mean nothing has value? hmm

Smoking cigarettes and yelling at 3am is not meaning making activity.Social_Drift wrote: ↑Tue Mar 22, 2022 5:23 pm if the lack of intrinsic meaning to life is why every meaning making activity fails, then why doesn't a lack of ethical / intrinsic value mean nothing has value? hmm

Re: Luke's misplaced thoughts
I remember my first year back at uni there was a guy wo had fallen under a bus. he wasn't paralysed, and not in a wheelchair, but it had really fucked him over. I told him I nearly threw myself under one "yeah don't do that"
I forget his name.

Re: Luke's misplaced thoughts
my neighbours a dickhead. keeps playing loud music after complaining about mine and potentially having me thrown out of my home of 9 years. yes, it was late, but there's no sense of reciprocity and / or self awareness with people like that. the sorta guy that likes to ruin other people's day / life cos you didn't join in his hatred of the last person that wound him up.
really pietty, and yet also really calculated.

What I find odd is how in China anorexia was never an issue until very recently. Granted China has suffered near uncountable famines in its history but in the last 50 years or so has been relatively stable in that respect and now they have anorexics.NoiseWiki wrote: ↑Fri Mar 25, 2022 1:24 pmToo bad that's not trueSocial_Drift wrote: ↑Thu Mar 24, 2022 11:43 pm mental illness only exists in mental hospitals... funny that.
I've read the reasoning being that its 'an imported illness from western culture' but I'm thinking thats not fully the reason. I'm thinking actually having a stable food supply could be part of the issue and that rock n roll and blue jeans is maybe just a tiny part of the problem...oh and that humans are inherently kind of fucked up is a large factor in this.
I'm pretty sure I've heard historical stories of Chinese people purposely starving themselves to death for whatever reasons so...yeah...I dunno.

Maybe start playing the same songs he plays really loud at different times and see what happens...as painful as that may be.
I should be asleep right now.
