I should have also requested gut shots.

Obviously a stitch of two photos but hopefully you get the idea. This beast necessitated the use of roughly 100 different wires, a trend I'm looking to mitigate in future builds.

And here's my schematic:

Nice work!

Yeah, I used to look at PCB mounted controls with derision - now I design that in to streamline assembly.

There is something magical about assembling something in less than an hour where an entire day was consumed before.
When in doubt, add resistance.

All the more impressive you saw it to completion!

I made a relatively compact metal shell out of some scrap. Measures 4.5 inches wide by 3 inches deep by 1 inch tall.

I managed to wedge a state variable filter into it

Left knob and middle knob would comprise the single "frequency" knob if I used a dual gang pot (it wouldn't fit). Left contours lows, middle contours highs, right controls resonance. Since my resonance pot is only 100K I added a switch above it to induce self oscillation. The row of switches actuates whatever combination of low pass, band pass, and high pass I want to see on the output.

I had to stuff both sides of the PCB to get it to seat fully inside the low profile enclosure I built. Also pictured here is the 34063 based switching power rail PCB for the negative nine volts that lives "under" the main circuit PCB. I was still mocking up at this point, I think I may have completed stuffing the main circuit but we're still short one switch and some wires.

All done! I aim to build some with voltage control, as it's dead simple variable resistance for both frequency and resonance (frequency goes up as resistance goes down and resonance goes up as resistance goes up).
When in doubt, add resistance.

New workbench: check
New shelves: check
New breadboard: check

Testing Boss TR-2 mods on the bench: let’s fucking go.

I participated in a secret santa gift exchange last year in which I interconnected a couple of circuits to produce a result worthy of chasing again. Here's the initial build:

Intentional design saw the inclusion of a blend control between the output of the first circuit (the business card) and the output of the final circuit (the half dozen transistors).

In my haste, I managed to fail to check the orientation of the user controls, so both gain (critical) and blend (annoying) were reversed, so counter clockwise was "up". Those have been flown off board with wire to allow correct implementation of controls. Also in the botch bag was the output level range switch (which is not an easy fix, so with the initial through hole run bat down will be level up), and the feedback switch which was designed to be a three position, but I needed to mirror image the footprint/fix it in the schematic, so that only operates with one level of feedback... unless I manage to squeeze non-PCB mount switches into place.

All in all I am still happy with the result, even though more work is needed for acceptable operation.
When in doubt, add resistance.
